The Managing Director of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC), Jennifer Adighije, has been credited with restoring electricity to the Rigasa community in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, ending years of outages that affected residents.

In a statement marking her birthday, the Convener of the BAT Ideological Group, Bamidele Atoyebi, said the intervention reconnected over three million people to the national grid and helped revive economic activities in the area.

Atoyebi described the development as a key milestone under Adighije’s leadership, noting that it has encouraged hundreds of other communities to seek similar interventions from the company.

He said the restoration reflects a leadership approach focused on delivering practical solutions within Nigeria’s power sector.

According to him, the NDPHC has also recorded operational and financial improvements, including the clearance of 110 containers at Onne Port, which he said saved the company high costs in duties and port charges.

He added that the company restored two generating units in Calabar and Omotosho, contributing about 230 megawatts to the national grid, while also introducing digital inventory systems to improve efficiency.

Atoyebi further stated that the company recovered funds from Togo’s CEET and secured a payment arrangement with Eko Disco, alongside ongoing efforts to recover outstanding investments with the Transmission Company of Nigeria.

He noted that several electrification projects have also been completed in institutions and communities, including Borno State University, the College of Agriculture in Maiduguri, and Orogun in Delta State.

The statement noted that Adighije introduced reforms aimed at improving transparency and efficiency, including the creation of a price benchmarking desk to guide procurement processes.

Atoyebi, who also serves as National Coordinator of Accountability and Policy Monitoring, described Adighije as a key figure in advancing the current administration’s power sector objectives, adding that her leadership demonstrates the impact of result-oriented management in public institutions.

He said her work in Kaduna and other parts of the country has helped restore confidence in public service delivery, particularly in the power sector.
