A political support group backing Senator Shehu Buba Umar’s governorship ambition in Bauchi State has raised N50 million for the purchase of his nomination form ahead of next year’s elections.
The announcement was made yesterday at a press conference in the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Secretariat in Bauchi.
Speaking on behalf of the group, the Contact and Mobilisation Committee said the funds were contributed by associates, supporters, and political allies of the senator to advance his governorship project.
The committee said the gathering was organised to notify the public of their decision to rally behindUmar, noting that the move followed consultations among key stakeholders within the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to the group, members carefully assessed the political situation in the state before settling on what they described as a unified decision to support a candidate they believe has the capacity to lead effectively.

They explained that the contribution was not merely financial support but also a demonstration of trust in Umar’s leadership experience, legislative background, and connection with grassroots communities.
The group further stated that the senator has shown an understanding of the developmental needs of Bauchi, particularly in areas such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, and growth.
They expressed confidence that his agenda aligns with what they described as the aspirations of citizens across the state.
The committee urged APC members and other stakeholders to support the senator during the party’s primaries and in the general elections.
They maintained that their decision was reached and reflected a shared belief in his capacity to deliver, adding that they remain committed to strengthening unity in the party ahead of next year’s election.
