Against the backdrop of growing public concern over police conduct and accountability, Delta State Commissioner of Police, Yemi Oyeniyi, has moved to reinforce discipline and professionalism within the command, signalling a renewed push to rebuild trust between officers and the communities they serve.
At a high-level strategic meeting with senior officers, the CP emphasised strict adherence to the rules and operational standards of the Nigeria Police Force, warning that misconduct and incivility would no longer be tolerated.
The directive aligns with broader reforms under the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, aimed at strengthening accountability and improving service delivery nationwide.
The high-level strategic meeting with senior officers included Area Commanders, Tactical Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and Heads of Departments, to address concerns over personnel conduct.
He stressed the need for compliance with the rules and regulations of Nigeria Police Force, as well as adherence to established Standard Operating Procedures, warning that the Force Management would not tolerate misconduct.
The CP expressed concern over reports of incivility by some officers, reminding personnel that policing is a service to the public.

He directed officers to remain polite, professional and respectful in their interactions with citizens at all times.
Oyeniyi also tasked senior officers with taking responsibility for the actions of their subordinates through proper supervision, guidance and discipline, urging them to motivate their personnel and promote a positive image of the Force.
He instructed that the directives be cascaded across all units and divisions to ensure full compliance.
The commissioner directed senior officers to remain accessible to the public by making their official phone numbers available, noting that this would enhance communication and build trust.
In line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, Disu, the CP announced the reorganisation of the command’s tactical teams to improve efficiency and supervision.
Delta State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to upholding professional standards, protecting citizens’ rights and ensuring effective policing across the state.
