A frontline governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State, Dr. Mathias Byuan, has pledged to deliver no fewer than two million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
Byuan made the assurance on Saturday in Makurdi during the launch of local chapters of the Ahmed Bola Tinubu (ABT) Support Group, under which he is promoting the “Bucket Revolution” campaign for Tinubu’s re-election.
He stressed the need for Tinubu’s return to office, citing what he described as transformative policies and projects that have impacted Benue State and the country. He listed key projects to include the ongoing Buruku Bridge, the Wurukum overhead bridge in Makurdi, and the dualisation of the Makurdi–Enugu expressway, alongside the appointment of Benue indigenes into strategic national positions.
According to him, the President has demonstrated commitment to the state and deserves overwhelming support in return.
“I am a beneficiary of President Tinubu’s goodwill to Benue people, but I chose to resign my position to answer the call of my people who are in dire need of purposeful leadership,” he said.
The former Executive Director of Housing, Finance and Accounts at the Federal Housing Authority, Abuja, decried what he described as underperformance in the state despite significant allocations, noting that insecurity remains a major challenge.
He said his governorship ambition is driven by a desire to reposition Benue for growth and development through improved leadership.
Outlining his agenda, Byuan pledged to prioritise security, enhance citizens’ welfare through a proposed “stomach infrastructure” ministry, and transform the state from a civil service-dependent economy into a thriving commercial hub. He also promised inclusive governance.

In a goodwill message, Ambassador Philip Eche conveyed support from Zone C, expressing confidence in Byuan’s leadership capacity.
Also speaking, the Director-General of the ABT Support Group, Dr. Kaaulu Akerkpev, said the state stands to regain lost ground under Byuan’s leadership.
APC chieftain, Chief Jime Akaaka, described the aspirant as a credible option to address the state’s challenges, urging residents to support what he termed the “Benue Rescue Mission.”
The event attracted party stakeholders, supporters and members of the public, marking a significant step in mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 elections.
