The National Convention of Nigeria’s biggest political party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), has delivered a bold statement. A statement that when united, victory is assured. Not just at the national level but victory across the sub-national levels, including local government and wards levels.

It is with this energising tonic that the APC in Benue State is set to commence a state wide mobilisation of the people towards a resounding victory at all levels during the forthcoming 2027 general elections. An election that will usher in leaders and legislators at the state and national levels.

For the Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, the Convention was significant because of the demonstration of unwavering support from the entire APC family, which made the Abuja outing outstanding.

It is in this respect that he expressed deep appreciation to the entire Benue family of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for their “unwavering cooperation, steadfastness, and exemplary conduct throughout the processes leading to, and during, the just-concluded National Convention held in Abuja” .

He said: “...your discipline, unity, and dedication from the ward, local government, state, and zonal congresses to the national convention no doubt have once again depicted clearly that Benue APC is undoubtedly a model of bonding and political maturity.

“This notable collective effort has significantly contributed to the success recorded at all levels of the party’s democratic exercise”.

Indeed, this encouraging attitude deserves nothing more than a renewed commitment by the governor to continue providing purposeful and inclusive leadership, delivering very best services to both the party and the good people of Benue State.

What is paramount is for all APC members to sustain the commendable spirit of unity and dedication, so as to make the journey to victory in the 2027 elections for both himself and the leader of the party, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a reality.

For the state chairman of APC, Mr. Benjamin Omale and other  ratified State Working Committee members of the party, the task before them is to provide sustainable and inclusive leadership as they set eyes on the gold medal at the end of the 2027 general election.

This means they must work tirelessly to strengthen party unity and advance the ideals of the APC across Benue State, consistently uphold the sanctity of the party, its integrity, and ensure discipline.

Already, there is a strong confidence that together, greater successes lie ahead.

This much has been demonstrated by the state APC Chairman when he pledged after the convention that their focus is to unite the party and leverage its strength to mobilise majority eligible voters behind it.

In his words, the APC leadership is focused on rebuilding unity and forging broad alliances to protect its votes and democracy in 2027.

It will be naive not to acknowledge that the party has had internal challenges, but the task of safeguarding democratic governance should not be derailed.

“Yes, we had some pockets of trouble in the APC, but we are resolute, and with resolutions  from the National  Convention, we are only left with one mission, to go home, reunite and conquer,” Omale said.

In essence, it is necessary to bring back all aggrieved members to return to the party and work for one goal ,which is to win in 2027.

“We are going to reach out to anybody reachable in the other political parties, including the ruling All Progressives Congress. Our priority in 2027 would be the protection of democracy and national unity,” the Chairman said.

It is time to set aside all differences and unite to secure victory for President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Alia, and those who will emerge as APC candidates for the state and National Assembly.

The advancement of internal democracy and the development of political institutions is key in this respect. It is a necessary step to continue the good governance being delivered by the indefatigable governor and the president for the overall good of the people.
