Bode George blasts Nyesom Wike over PDP crisis

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Bode George, has accused the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, of destabilising the opposition party, calling him a “political undertaker” whose actions threaten its stability.
Speaking during an interview on a national television programme on Wednesday, George said only President Bola Tinubu has the authority to rein in the former Rivers State governor.
He said the President should intervene if Wike’s actions continue to conflict with the administration's and the party's interests.
George criticised what he described as Wike’s conflicting political loyalties, alleging that the FCT minister was backing candidates across party lines.
“If he claims to be a member of our party, how can he be involved in nominating both APC and PDP governorship candidates in Rivers State? I have never seen anything like this,” he said.

The PDP chieftain also faulted some party members for resisting reconciliation efforts aimed at resolving the party’s internal crisis, noting that unity could not be forced.
“You can only lead a horse to water, but you cannot force it to drink,” George said, adding that those unwilling to abide by party rules were acting as “agent provocateurs.”
He further stated that the Supreme Court ruling on the party’s internal disputes had clarified issues surrounding its leadership crisis, insisting that affected members of the working committee remained suspended.
Despite the lingering divisions, George expressed confidence in the PDP’s resilience, saying the party would survive the ongoing challenges.
“We will not die. The foundation laid by our founding fathers remains strong, and no matter the difficulties, the party will endure,” he said.
