The Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State, Abinye Pepple, has received two boat ambulances from Rivers State Emergency Medical Services and Ambulance System (RSEMSAS).

The presentation took place at Bonny Coal Beach and was conducted by the Head of Primary Healthcare, Bonny Council, Dr. Tonye Jack, alongside the Supervisor for Health and Environment, Sir Hayford Banigo.

Jack said during the handover that the boat ambulances were designed to enhance emergency medical services for rural and riverine areas, which he noted made up a significant part of Bonny.

He said the new emergency boats would support individuals facing difficulties to access health care facilities at night or during critical situations.

Jack briefed the chairman on the Bonny Malaria Elimination Project, a tripartite intervention involving the Federal Government, the host community and key technical partners, in Bonny.

The project was aimed to eradicate malaria within Bonny Local Government and establish the area as a national reference point for malaria elimination efforts.

Pepple expressed support for the initiatives, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to improving public health through collaboration with relevant partners to achieve landmark progress for the people of Bonny.
