He gave this advice during the 2026 JIG (Jesus Is Good) rally organised by CAN across Lagos Island.
The rally began at Araromi Baptist Church and ended at Church of Christ, Marina, moving through several major streets, including Lewis Street, Sandgrouse, Ebute Elefun, Olowu, Freeman, Tokunboh, and Bamgbose. Participants engaged in prayers, street preaching, and music ministrations at various stops.
Addressing the crowd, Odejimi cautioned young ministers against pursuing wealth and status prematurely. He noted that ministry requires a process of growth, obedience, and sacrifice.
“You cannot just enter ministry and begin to aspire to luxury lifestyles,” he said. “There is a process of learning, obedience, and dedication. Without it, challenges will overwhelm you.”
He emphasised the importance of mentorship, faithfulness, and adherence to God’s direction. According to him, true ministry is built on consistency, obedience, and a clear focus on preaching the gospel.
Odejimi also warned against unethical practices among some young ministers, including involvement in scandals and occult activities in the pursuit of fame and wealth. He called for integrity and accountability, stressing that the ministry should reflect genuine service to God.
He concluded by encouraging ministers to remain steadfast, grounded in the Word, and committed to responsible Christian living, noting that lasting impact comes through diligence and faithfulness.
