Manchester United manager Michael Carrick praised goalkeeper Senne Lammens and striker Benjamin Sesko following his side’s hard-fought 1–0 victory over Everton on Sunday.

United secured all three points courtesy of a decisive second-half strike from Sesko, but Carrick was quick to highlight the influence of Lammens at the other end after a string of crucial saves preserved the clean sheet.

Sesko’s goal proved the difference in a tightly contested encounter, with the forward showing composure inside the box to convert what turned out to be United’s clearest opportunity of the afternoon. The Slovenian striker led the line effectively throughout, stretching Everton’s defence and providing a constant physical presence.

However, Everton pushed relentlessly for an equaliser, particularly in the closing stages, forcing Lammens into a series of impressive stops. The Belgian goalkeeper denied point-blank efforts and commanded his area confidently under pressure to ensure United held firm.

Carrick commended both players after the match, describing their performances as pivotal to the outcome.

For Michael Carrick, the performance was a testament to the character he is building within the squad. The head coach, who remains unbeaten since replacing Ruben Amorim, highlighted Lammens’ ability to act as a stabilising force during the most frantic moments of the match.

"For me a goalkeeper has to be reliable, be trustworthy," Carrick said. "Instead of creating a chaos, you want him to take the chaos away and calm things down. I think Senne does that."
