Iya Aladura General and Founder of The New Seraph, Dr. Oluwaseye Yomi-Sholoye, has described the new Lagos State Secretariat of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) as a “fit home” for Christian leadership.
She noted that the complex will strengthen the association’s operations and drive its mandate, ending what she called “30 years of shame.”
Speaking at the dedication of the edifice in Alausa, Ikeja, Yomi-Sholoye said the project is a major turning point for the Christian body in Lagos.
“For about three decades, CAN did not have a befitting secretariat,” she said. “Today, we have a beautiful structure that will lift the work of God. It is God’s doing.”
She credited the achievement to leadership of Lagos CAN Chairman, Bishop Stephen Adegbite, describing him as “a born leader and true servant of God,” who broke new grounds to deliver the project.
The secretariat, on Jobi Fele Way, was inaugurated in presence of Secretary to the State Government, Mrs Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, representing the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Others are Senator Tokunbo Abiru, Chief of Staff to the governor, Mr. Tayo Ayinde and religious and political leaders.
The complex, named Senator Oluremi Tinubu CAN Lagos State Secretariat, houses structures designated after prominent personalities. The main office block is named after Sanwo-Olu, the first floor bears Dr Yomi-Sholoye’s name, while CAN chairman’s office bears Abiru’s name.
The hall and event centre is christened Bishop Stephen Adegbite Hall and Event Centre.

In his remarks, Bishop Adegbite called on Christians to take collective ownership of the facility and ensure its maintenance as a symbol of unity and administrative strength.
Meanwhile, at the 2026 Inter-Denominational Divine Service held at The Apostolic Church Nigeria, Olorunda, Ketu, Rev. Dr. Ezekiel Omidina urged Christians to remain steadfast despite economic and social challenges, preaching on the theme “Immanuel: God With Us” from Matthew 1:23.
Special prayers were offered for peace, unity and prosperity in Nigeria and Lagos State, with dignitaries including the Chief Judge of Lagos State, Justice Kazeem Alogba (represented by Justice Modupe Nicol-Clay), and the Catholic Archbishop of Lagos, Alfred Adewale Martins, in attendance.
