The Chairman of Coker-Aguda Local Council Development Area, Azeez Ogidan, yesterday led security agencies, community leaders, transport unions, and other critical stakeholders on a peaceful rally across the Orile-Iganmu axis to strongly condemn cultism and the spate of killings recorded in the area in recent times.
Addressing a large gathering during the rally, Ogidan noted with concern the recent incidents of violence, particularly within the Orile-Iganmu community, stressing that his administration will not stand by while criminal activities continue to threaten the peace and safety of residents.
He stated that the overwhelming turnout at the rally sends a strong and unequivocal message to criminal elements and their accomplices that it will no longer be business as usual. The Chairman further warned that parents and guardians of known cultists will be held accountable for the actions of their wards.

Ogidan also cautioned landlords and property owners against providing shelter to individuals engaged in criminal activities, emphasising that any property found to be used for such purposes will be forfeited.
In solidarity, the leadership of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), represented by the State Trustee, Alhaji Amole Abiodun Wasiu, declared that the union did not harbour criminals and unequivocally denounced cultism in all its forms.
Similarly, the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), represented by its Deputy State Chairman, Comrade Abubakar Ishola Ajidagba, affirmed the association’s readiness to collaborate with government and security agencies to curb cultism and restore peace and order i2n the community.
The rally traversed major parts of Aguda and the Orile axis, where the chairman reiterated that no individual should intervene on behalf of offenders when the full weight of the law is applied.
He said his administration remains resolute in its commitment to safeguarding lives and property while fostering sustainable peace and security across the community.
