Colleagues, associates celebrate NDDC finance director Kunemofa on birthday

Tributes have continued to pour in from within Nigeria and abroad as Dr. Asu Kunemofa, Director of Finance and Accounts at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), marks another year.

In a statement issued by its Board of Advisory Council, the 100 Most Notable Peace Icons Africa described Kunemofa as a contributor to Africa’s development through her role in public finance and leadership.

Kunemofa, who has over two decades of experience, is recognised in professional circles for her work in public financial management. At the NDDC, she has been involved in efforts aimed at improving financial governance, accountability, and transparency, in support of development programmes across the Niger Delta.

She has also been associated with initiatives in human capital development, education, healthcare support, and community empowerment. Colleagues describe her leadership approach as disciplined and strategic.

Kunemofa holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy from Rivers State University and a Master of Business Administration from the National Open University of Nigeria. She is a Fellow of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria and the Institute of Strategic Management of Nigeria, and a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria.

Her professional development includes executive training at institutions such as Harvard University and other centres in the United Kingdom.

She has received a number of recognitions in the course of her career, including the Peace International Award for Excellence in Public Service and Financial Management, as well as an honorary doctorate in Leadership and Financial Management.

Kunemofa also serves as Vice Chairperson of the Board of Advisory Council of the 100 Most Notable Peace Icons Africa, where she is involved in programmes focused on peace, leadership, and sustainable development.

A native of Kaiama in Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, she is noted for her involvement in development efforts in the Niger Delta.

Members of the organisation, alongside associates and well-wishers, acknowledged her years of service and contributions, while extending goodwill on the occasion.
