Bendel Insurance have been sanctioned for multiple breaches of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Framework and Rules following incidents that marred their Matchday 32 clash against Plateau United at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City on Saturday, March 28, 2026.

According to the league body, the Benin City side failed to provide adequate and effective security during the encounter, a lapse that allowed unauthorized individuals access to restricted areas within the stadium.

The club was also found culpable for the conduct of their supporters, whose actions were deemed unsporting and capable of bringing the game into disrepute. In addition, the supporters were reported to have harassed match officials, further compounding the infractions recorded during the fixture.

Head coach Kennedy Boboye was not spared in the disciplinary measures, as he was cited for gross misconduct towards a match official an act considered a clear violation of the principles of fair play and discipline.

As a result of these breaches, Bendel Insurance have been handed a series of sanctions, including a total fine of N5 million. N2 million for inadequate security, N1 million for supporters’ misconduct, and N2 million for holding match officials hostage for 40 minutes after the game.

Furthermore, the club will play their next three home matches behind closed doors.

Coach Kennedy Boboye has also been fined N2 million and handed a 17-match suspension for his actions.
