Residents of Ebu community in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State have renewed their calls on the state government to intervene in the provision of road infrastructure, lamenting that decades of neglect have left the agrarian settlement isolated and underdeveloped.

The community, known for its farming and contribution to food supply in Delta North, said it had no single functional internal or external road, a situation residents noted had continued for more than 30 years.

They decried the collapse of Ebu–Ukala–Ezi Road, a major access route built about 27 years ago during the administration of former governor James Ibori.

According to community leaders, the road once served as a vital economic corridor linking Ebu with neighbouring communities such as Ukala and Ezi, but has now deteriorated beyond use.

“Vehicles can no longer ply the road. What used to be our major link to neighbouring communities and other parts of Delta North has completely collapsed,” a community leader spoke in confidence.

Residents say the only available access route is through Illah Road, a federal road they describe as equally deplorable, worsening the hardship faced by farmers, traders, students and other residents.

They also lamented the condition of internal roads within the community, especially Palace Road leading to Ebu Health Centre and Ebu Grammar School, saying the road had become inaccessible to vehicles.
