A former governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress and aspirant for the Edo South senatorial district, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, has said he would not defect from the party under any circumstances.
Pastor Ize-Iyamu is contesting the APC ticket against Senator Neda Imasuen and Hon Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama.
In a statement he personally signed and issued in Benin City, Pastor Ize-Iyamu called on the party's leadership to ensure integrity, transparency, and impartiality while conducting the primaries.
Pastor Ize-Iyamu, who warned against any form of candidate imposition, said party members must be allowed to decide freely, without fear, coercion, or intimidation.
He insisted that the credibility of the process would determine party unity and public trust.
In a veiled reference to the alleged directive by Governor Monday Okpebholo to political appointees on whom to support, Pastor Ize-Iyamu cautioned against undue influence.

He stated that directing appointees or stakeholders on whom to support was contrary to democratic ideals.
According to him, “If primaries are to be conducted, they must be transparent and fair. The imposition of candidates, whether direct or subtle, undermines party unity and erodes public trust.
“Directing appointees or stakeholders on whom to support is inconsistent with the democratic ideals upon which our party stands.”
“We are confident that the leadership of our great party will do what is right. Let party members decide freely, without fear, coercion, or intimidation.
“I have no intention of leaving the APC, now or ever, regardless of the circumstances. No disagreement, no provocation, and no temporary setback will drive me from a house I helped to build.”
