Operatives of the Lagos Zonal Directorate 2 of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ikoyi, have commenced an investigation into a suspected fake lawyer, John Anoruo, over alleged possession of a forged seal of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).
Anoruo, who reportedly operates a legal and educational consultancy in Ikorodu, Lagos, was arrested by EFCC operatives on Monday.
The anti-graft agency said the case originated from a petition dated September 22, last year, which the suspect submitted to the commission on behalf of his clients against the management of Global West Vessel Specialist Nigeria Limited.

However, investigations by the EFCC showed that the petition and a subsequent letter of withdrawal dated March 5, this year, bore a forged NBA seal.
The suspect allegedly confessed to obtaining the seal from an undisclosed business centre in Lagos.
During interrogation, the 55-year-old claimed he obtained a law degree in 2018 from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka through evening classes but admitted he did not attend the Nigerian Law School, a mandatory requirement for legal practice in Nigeria.
The EFCC stated that the suspect would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
