Ejiro Peters dominated the track at the 2nd Niger Delta Games, sprinting to gold in the women’s 100m final. For Peters, the victory wasn't just a podium finish—it was a "golden moment" she believes will serve as a springboard for her international athletics career.

Representing Delta State, Peters clocked a blistering 11.58 seconds to secure the top spot. She was followed by host state Edo’s Praise Tejiri (11.76s) and Imoisemeh Victory (11.78s), who took silver and bronze respectively.

The performance marked a significant milestone for Peters, as she shattered her previous Personal Best (PB) of 11.67 seconds.

Speaking with NDG Media, the champion admitted the record-breaking time took her by surprise.

“I’ve been praying for this moment. It’s truly a great feeling,” she said. “I wasn’t necessarily expecting to run this fast, but I’m incredibly excited. Representing my state is a huge honor, and I give all the glory to God.”

Peters also credited her support system for her success: “I want to thank my coach, Emily Osakwe, for believing in me Emerging as the best is a great opportunity for me and I am going to build on that for the future.”
