The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, Dr. Oluwole Oluyede, has urged residents to remain hopeful and resolute, assuring them that the current challenges facing the state are temporary and will give way to progress, accountability, and purposeful leadership.

In a statement issued on Thursday by his special adviser on media, Gani Salau, Oluyede encouraged residents to “weep no more,” describing the present situation as a phase that will pass in the course of the state’s political development.

The PDP candidate also expressed concern over governance in the state, noting that increasing calls from residents for more visible, people-focused projects and policies that directly impact livelihoods.

He emphasised that leadership should be reflected in measurable improvements in people's welfare, adding that governance should prioritize tangible development outcomes.

Oluyede further called for unity among residents, stating that the people share a common destiny and must work collectively towards advancing development in the state. He described the upcoming June 20 governorship election as an important opportunity for citizens to shape the future direction of Ekiti State.

“This movement is beyond politics; it is about repositioning Ekiti for sustainable growth, transparency, and inclusive governance,” he said.

Oluyede expressed confidence in the democratic process, urging voters to remain united and committed to peaceful participation.

“Ekiti people should not lose faith. Hope is alive, and a new Ekiti is within reach,” the statement added.
