The Chief Executive Officer of Owelle Media Ltd and owner of Owelle FM, Enugu, Chief Joseph Anichebe, has been honoured with an official certificate of chieftaincy by Enugu State Government

The Chief Executive Officer of Owelle Media Ltd and owner of Owelle FM, Enugu, Chief Joseph Anichebe, has been honoured with an official certificate of chieftaincy by Enugu State Government in recognition of his contributions to the promotion of Igbo language and culture.
The honour, which authenticates his traditional title of Odezuruigbo Amaebor Obodo Asaa, was presented by Enugu State Ministry of Chieftaincy Matters during a ceremony held at the palace of the traditional ruler of Amaebor Obodo Asaa in Owelle Court, Awgu Local Government.
Speaking at the event, the traditional ruler, HRH Igwe Marcel Onuora, praised Anichebe for his commitment to advancing Igbo heritage through broadcasting, particularly via Owelle FM, which operates exclusively in Igbo language.
He described the recognition as well-deserved and urged NdI Igbo at home and in the diaspora to emulate Anichebe’s dedication to preserving their cultural identity.
“This honour is in appreciation of his relentless efforts in promoting Igbo language and culture. NdI Igbo everywhere should take a cue from his example to ensure our heritage does not go into extinction,” the monarch said.
Igwe Onuora noted that the presentation marked a historic moment, as it was the first time Enugu State Government had issued a certificate of chieftaincy to a titleholder within the Owelle ancient kingdom.
Anichebe was initially conferred with the chieftaincy title in December 2025 by the same traditional ruler in recognition of his role in promoting Igbo values through media.
In his acceptance speech, the Owelle FM boss expressed gratitude to the state government, the traditional institution, and the people of Amaebor Obodo Asaa for the honour bestowed on him.
“I am grateful for this recognition. It will only strengthen my resolve to continue promoting and sustaining Igbo language and culture for future generations,” he said.
Several indigenes of Amaebor Obodo Asaa, who attended the ceremony, described Anichebe as a worthy ambassador of the Igbo race, commending his efforts in preserving the linguistic and cultural heritage of the people.
