The election in Kuje Area Council commenced on a slow note on Saturday following the late arrival of officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) at several polling units.

The situation was observed across the first four polling units visited, where electoral officials were yet to arrive as early as 7:30 a.m., despite voters and security personnel arriving from about 7:00 a.m.

At the Kuchiyako Primary School polling unit, no INEC official was present as of 7:30 a.m., leaving voters waiting to begin the accreditation process.

A similar development was recorded at the polling unit located at the Chief’s Palace, where voters gathered but electoral officials had not yet arrived.

INEC officials eventually arrived at about 7:40 a.m. at the polling unit behind the Area Council Secretariat in Kuje, allowing preparations for accreditation to commence as voters continued to wait patiently.
