As residents turned out to vote in the local government council elections across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in the FCT, Dr. Olusola Odumosu, cautioned officers against harassing voters during the exercise.
Addressing personnel at the Command’s Wuse headquarters on Saturday morning, Odumosu directed officers to prevent miscreants and political thugs from disrupting the process. He stressed that such individuals must not be allowed near the more than 2,200 polling units spread across the FCT.
The Commandant disclosed that over 4,000 NSCDC personnel had been deployed to monitor the elections across the area councils in Abuja. He added that he would personally lead a supervisory team to oversee the exercise.
