Residents of Issele-Uku in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State are gripped by fears, following renewed kidnappings in the community, despite spiritual measures previously taken by the palace to curb crime.
In the latest attack, a couple, Mr. and Mrs. Ayo Okeleke, were reportedly abducted while on their way to inspect a building under construction in the area.
Other recent incidents included the killing of a palm wine tapper and an attempted shooting of a commercial motorcyclist at Ubulu area.

The abduction reportedly took place close to the local government secretariat.
Sources said the kidnappers are demanding ransom. In a related development, a palm wine tapper was allegedly killed by suspected kidnappers, with his body discovered on a farm in Issele-Uku.
Similarly, an Okada rider narrowly escaped being shot by gunmen at Powerline axis, between Ubulu-Uku and Ubulu-Uno.
All the incidents were reported at Issele-Uku and Ogwashi-Uku police stations.
Concerned members of the community have called on security agencies to arrest the suspects and rescue the victims.
