The Foundation for Ethical Society and Cultural Awareness (FESCA) has announced the launch of its National Initiative for Ethical Transformation and Cultural Renewal programme.
In a statement, the organisation’s General Secretary, Ewemade Konkons, and President, Nosa Osaikhuiwu, said the foundation is a non-profit body dedicated to promoting ethical transformation and cultural renewal in Nigeria.
According to them, the initiative is aimed at advancing integrity, civic responsibility, and strong ethical values across Nigerian society.
They explained that the foundation is built on the belief that many of Nigeria’s challenges are rooted in deep societal and cultural issues rather than solely leadership failures. The organisation noted that since leadership often reflects the values of society, meaningful national transformation must begin with a shift in the ethical orientation and conduct of citizens.
FESCA said it intends to promote a bottom-up approach to national renewal by encouraging Nigerians at all levels of society to embrace integrity, patriotism, accountability, and responsible citizenship in their daily lives.
As part of its core programmes, the organisation plans to establish Integrity and Ethical Brigades across institutions nationwide. The brigades will focus on recruiting and training young Nigerians to serve as ambassadors of ethical values and responsible citizenship within their communities and institutions.
The foundation also plans to carry out nationwide public awareness campaigns through television dramas, films, radio jingles, documentaries, newspaper publications, books, and community outreach initiatives designed to promote cultural change and strengthen ethical consciousness among citizens.
In addition, FESCA said it intends to collaborate with civil society organisations, educational institutions, market associations, community leaders, and security agencies to advance ethical training and civic responsibility across the country.
The organisation emphasised that transforming Nigeria requires collective responsibility from all citizens, including workers, traders, professionals, public officials, and political leaders.
According to the statement, Nigerians often attribute the country’s challenges solely to political leadership, but sustainable change can only occur when citizens accept personal responsibility for ethical conduct and national development.
FESCA acknowledged that cultural transformation is a long-term process but expressed confidence that sustained public engagement, education, and nationwide participation can drive meaningful change.
The foundation, therefore, called on Nigerians at home and in the diaspora, as well as the media, civil society groups, and other stakeholders, to support the movement for ethical and cultural renewal.
