A leading security firm, G4S Shared Services Nigeria Limited, has marked the International Safety Day with medical outreach to Finnih Medical Centre, Ikeja, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
Its Managing Director, Jonas Ahl, said the initiative reflected how the firm supports hospitals by providing needed resources and also shows the firm’s commitment to ensuring employees’ safety through structured health and safety plans.
“We work with a number of hospitals. In some cases we see that in the hospitals they may need some things that they do not have and as a relatively big company, we want to do our part and support,” he said.
Chief Responsibility Officer, QHSES Leadership Academy, Jamiu Badmos, an engineer, who spoke on “Promoting Proactive Measures to Ensure Mental Well-being and Emotional Saftery at Work,” urged organisations to promote employees’ wellbeing and emotional safety
Badmos warned that psychological risks are becoming a major threat in modern work environments.

He added that the modern work place is defined with complexity, digitisation, and fast operations which have led to rising cases of stress, burnout, and role overload among employees.
He explained that workplace safety should no longer be limited to physical protection but must also address invisible psychological strain, which contributes to serious health conditions and reduced productivity at work.
Badmos recommended practical measures such as eliminating toxic workplace practices, redesigning work structures, enforcing anti-bullying policies, and providing mental health support programs. .
Health and Safety Manager, Yekinni Kolawole, said care remains a core value of the organisation, and this year’s theme of international Safety Day was about ensuring psychological support for everyone.
“So, we are here to just show our caring culture to our host community and more importantly, that we care for you and we wish everyone a quick recovery. So today we are celebrating International Safety Day and we also feel that let’s come here to visit , let us talk, let’s take a pause and let’s have that empathy, let’s come and share time with people who are in the hospital, because it could be us, it could be me, you understand,” he said.
A beneficiary (name withheld) expressed appreciation for the firm, describing it as impactful.
According to him, “it feels so good when people you don’t know from outside of your world still extend their greetings. It really means a lot.”
