First Class: Agric science faculty leads with 28, as LAUTECH graduates 7,461 bachelor's degrees

Out of the 137 First Class graduates, the Faculty of Agricultural Science led with 23 first class graduands at the 18th Convocation ceremony of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Oyo State.
At the ceremonies which held in Ogbomoso on Wednesday, Oladepo Caleb Olugbenga of the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Technogy emerged the overall best student with a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 4.89.
The Vice Chancellor of the University. Prof Rasaq Kalilu confirmed the development in his Convocation speech at the ceremony.
He said the Faculty of Agricultural Science and Renewable Natural Resources came second on the First class chart with 23 graduands while Faculty of Engineering and Technology and Faculty of Computing and Informatics came third and fourth respectively with 16 and 10 graduands.
The Vice Chancellor added that a total of 7, 641 graduands have been admitted to various bachelor's degrees.

He said, "Out of this figure, 137 students are graduating with First class category, 1,889 of them in the second class upper category and 1,008 students in the third class category and 37 graduands in the pass category."
In his charge to the graduating students, the Vice Chancellor enjoined them to embrace new challenges and strive for excellence in everything they do.
He said, "The world is full of opportunities for you to explore and conquer. We have full confidence that you will carry the values and lesson learnt here into the world and make positive contributions.
"Being a LADOKITE is a unique brand of excellence. It is a badge earned through rigorous processes. You have been forged in a crucible of science and arts and cast in a mold of te hnology. Never stop believing in yourselves."
