Former Bauchi State governor, Mohammed Abubakar has joined the race for a possible return to the government House, saying human capital development was at the heart of his renewed governorship ambition.

Speaking after receiving the nomination form from a group of friends and associates on the platform of  the MA Abubakar Strategic Committee, the former governor promised to focus on building a stronger education, healthcare, and social investment if returned to office.

Abubakar lost the governorship seat to Senator Bala Mohammed in 2019 after serving just one term as governor.

He said the future of Bauchi depends largely on how well it invests in its people, particularly in building a skilled, healthy, and productive population.

Reflecting on his first term as governor, he said while in office as governor “We allocated substantial portions of our budget to education, approaching global benchmarks, and invested in renovating and constructing hundreds of classrooms across the state.

“We trained thousands of teachers, supported scholarships, and upgraded key institutions because we understood that education is the bedrock of development.”

On healthcare and social support, he said his administration worked to improve access and provide support for vulnerable groups, saying, “Our investments in human capital were deliberate — we wanted to build a generation that is empowered, informed, and capable of driving Bauchi forward.”

He said “If given another opportunity, we will expand access to quality education and healthcare, empower our women and youth, and ensure that no community is left behind. I assure the good people of Bauchi State that I will not disappoint you,”

He applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for providing a level playing field for all aspirants within our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying “your visionary leadership has strengthened the APC as a viable, inclusive, and democratic platform where every qualified member can aspire to serve our people”.
