The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Muhammad Ali Pate, has withdrawn from the 2027 governorship race in Bauchi State, apologising to supporters while reaffirming his commitment to national service and endorsing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election.
In a video message released on Sunday night, Pate expressed regret over any inconvenience his decision may have caused, particularly to supporters and residents who had anticipated his entry into the race.
He thanked his supporters across the state and beyond for their loyalty and assured them of his continued commitment to their aspirations, wherever he serves.
The minister reiterated his commitment to driving development at both the national and state levels, with a focus on improving healthcare delivery, particularly in maternal and child health and critical surgical services.
“Power belongs to God; He gives it to whom He wills and takes it from whom He wills,” he said, while pledging to support the emergence of a credible and capable leader to move Bauchi State forward.
He also cautioned youths against engaging in political thuggery, violence and other social vices, warning that such actions could undermine their future leadership prospects.
Pate called on citizens to rally behind the All Progressives Congress (APC) in securing victory across all elective positions in the state in the 2027 general elections.
He further appealed to stakeholders and voters to support Tinubu’s bid for a second term, stressing the need for continuity in governance.
The minister also pledged to promote the emergence of credible candidates for elective offices, emphasising the need for leadership that can deliver tangible democratic dividends.
He warned party delegates against backing aspirants who rely on financial inducements, noting that such practices undermine democratic values and hinder genuine development.
“We will not allow the emergence of unproductive aspirants whose actions could slow the pace of progress in Bauchi State,” he said, adding that such an outcome would not serve the overall interest of the state.
