A non-governmental organisation, Bola Oyebade Foundation (BOF), has lifted 10 less-privileged members of the society with cash to boost their trades. It also provided roadside five traders with large umbrellas.
The presentation was part of activities marking the Eighth BOF’s annual lecture and awards as well as the 55th birthday of the founder, Mr. Bola Oyebade, in Ikeja, Lagos last weekend.
Oyebade expressed satisfaction that over the years he had been able, through the foundation, to help many people. He said he was able to raise the cash, despite the state of the economy, so that the beneficiaries could make more investments. He advised them to use the money judiciously to make him and his team excited when they came for auditing.

A BOF Board member, Mr. Olatunbosun Ajayi, said every February 6,Oyebade’s birthday is celebrated by the foundation, adding that during the event the founder ensured that members of the society were empowered.

They said they hoped to offer more scholarships, build a vocational centre and a farm, saying that these were part of their 20-year comprehensive plan.
He thanked their partners for their contributions over the years.
The guest speaker, Mr. Sunmola Olalekan David, who spoke on “AI and ICT: Empowering the next generation and transforming the society’’, urged the youth to AI to boost their career, He said there are over 85 text pieces in the ICT sector, urging the youth to avail themselves of the opportunities through proper training and search.

There are also opportunities for entrepreneurship, he added. He submitted that digitalisation would bring efficiency and its era would not create job losses as feared in some sectors.
He urged the youth to imbibe a good mindset and acquire the right ICT skills required to enable them to fly. ‘’Critical skills and thinking are vital,’’ he said.
A beneficiary, Esther Ekura, a petty trader, thanked the foundation for the gesture. He said she was surprised when she was chosen and thought it was a dream as she did not know anyone in the NGO.
