As the holy month of Ramadan 2026 draws to a close, the Tunjii Salami Foundation has distributed relief materials and financial grants valued at N12 million in Osun State.
The comprehensive intervention, which spanned several local government areas, focused on immediate hunger relief for the elderly and long-term economic independence for aspiring entrepreneurs.
Recognising the economic pressures often heightened during festive seasons, the foundation prioritised the distribution of essential staple foods.
Hundreds of widows and elderly citizens, who are often the most hit by food inflation, received packages containing rice, beans, semovita, vegetable oil, and other nutritional essentials designed to sustain their households through the Eid celebrations and beyond.
The Foundation also took significant step toward sustainable poverty alleviation through its 2026 Zakat Empowerment Scheme.
In a move designed to break the cycle of dependency, 20 carefully selected individuals were provided with seed capital to start or expand small-scale businesses.
This financial injection, derived from the foundation’s Zakat fund, aims to transform the beneficiaries from charity recipients into self-reliant entrepreneurs capable of contributing to the local economy.
Speaking during the final phase of the distribution in Osogbo, the foundation’s Communications Director, Maroof Olawale Salami, emphasised that the gesture was rooted in the core Islamic principles of compassion and social justice.
The foundation noted further that the choice of Ramadan for the rollout was intentional, as the period demands a reflection on the plight of the less privileged and a commitment to communal upliftment.

The spokesperson further highlighted that the roughly ₦12 million investment was a testament to the foundation’s unwavering dedication to the welfare of the most vulnerable.
Beneficiaries of the relief package shared emotional testimonies, with many describing the intervention as a "divine lifeline" during a challenging economic period.
For the widows and elderly, the food supplies represent more than just sustenance; they represent the comfort of knowing they have not been forgotten by their community.
Recipients of the 20 businesses expressed readiness to utilise the grants to establish sustainable livelihoods, praising the foundation for its transparent selection process and its focus on long-term impact.
As Ramadan winds down, the foundation has once again solidified its reputation as a beacon of hope in South-West Nigeria. By combining immediate humanitarian aid with strategic economic empowerment, the foundation is not only feeding the hungry but is also building a foundation for a more prosperous and resilient Osun State.
The Tunjii Salami Foundation is a non-profit organisation dedicated to humanitarian service, educational support, and economic empowerment. With a focus on the less privileged, the foundation strives to create equitable opportunities for growth and development within Osun State and across Nigeria.
