Operatives of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) yesterday morning extracted two persons who were trapped overnight in a wreckage of two trucks that locked into each other after a collision. The two persons were also taken to Victory Hospital in Ogere for treatment.
The accident, which occurred around 10:17 p.m. on Monday, involved two heavy-duty trucks near Foursquare Camp in Ogunmakin, Ogun State corridor of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, also created a huge traffic gridlock.
Superintendent Route Commander and spokesperson, FRSC, Ogun Sector Command, Odunsi Afolabi, in a statement said that preliminary findings showed that the crash was caused by excessive speed and loss of control.
Afolabi said further that seven adult males were involved in the accident, with five sustaining injuries.
According to him, recovery remains ongoing, as the two trucks are still locked together, requiring heavy-duty cranes for separation.
He noted that the Ibadan-bound lane has temporarily been closed to facilitate the removal, triggering significant traffic delays.

He explained that Lagos-bound vehicles are being diverted at Alapako Bridge to share the opposite carriageway to manage the situation.
FRSC officials have created an emergency corridor to ease congestion, but motorists have been warned to expect prolonged delays as clearance continues, he added.
Also, Sector Commander Corps Commander Oludare Ogunjobi, has urged drivers to remain calm, obey traffic officials, and consider alternative routes where possible, stressing that further updates will be provided once the affected section of the expressway is fully reopened.
