Francis Epe won the 54-hole Sunshine Developmental Tour (SDT) Qualifying School by nine shots in Lagos on Wednesday, leading a Nigerian sweep that claimed 14 of the 20 SDT tour cards on offer.

Epe, a former Nigeria number one and the country's representative at the 2026 DP World Tour's Magical Kenya Open at Karen Country Club, carded rounds of 73, 69 and 67 for a 209 total at Lakowe Lakes Golf Course.

Ghana's Dzadey Barry and Nigerians Bako Kamalu and Okoko Godwin shared second place on 218 (+2).

SDT tournament director David Kihara said the event reflected the tour's goal of growing African representation on the Sunshine Tour.

"I think the golf potential of Nigeria and other countries represented here is understated based on what I have seen in these few days of organising the SDT (West Africa) Qualifying School. The facilities at Lakowe Lakes Golf Club and the level of talent on display were impressive," he said.

The field featured professionals from Nigeria, Ghana, Togo and Cote d’Ivoire.

Lakowe Lakes Golf Estate golf manager Femi Olagbenro said the qualifying school supported the region's professional development.

"We believe the exposure these SDT tickets provide will propel Nigerian and other West African professionals to greater global relevance. Lakowe is proud to support initiatives like this and looks forward to strengthening its partnership with the SDT," he said.

Other qualifiers included Andrew Odoh, Tajudeen Ajayi, Udum Sateer, Inalegwu George and Monday Eze (all Nigeria), Manasseh Augustine, Vincent Torgah (Ghana), and Richard Kouakou and Jean-Romaric Kouassi (Cote d’Ivoire).
