Beneficiaries of the generosity and mentorship of former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, have purchased an APC governorship nomination form on his behalf after raising over ₦60 million.

The development marks a significant political moment ahead of the 2027 Gombe governorship election, highlighting an unusual model of citizen-driven mobilisation anchored on personal impact and loyalty.

The crowdfunding began last Friday when a group of young Nigerians, who had gained from Pantami’s guidance and opportunities, resolved to contribute towards purchasing his nomination form as a gesture of appreciation.

One of the coordinators, Eng. Adamu Sabo Gombe, said the contributions were voluntary.

"The initiative reflects the goodwill Prof. Pantami enjoys among many young people due to the support he has provided over the years," he stated.

The fundraising attracted a wide spectrum of loyalists, as well as modest and significant donations. An anonymous donor gave ₦400,000, attributing the gesture to employment chances he received through Pantami’s intervention.

A supporter, Halima Shehu, explained that she was encouraged by calls for inclusive participation.

"I was initially hesitant to send ₦2,000, but I was inspired to give whatever I could," Halima wrote on her Facebook page.

Anas Bn Hamza, speaking on behalf of a friend sponsored by Pantami to study in India, presented ₦50,000 as an act of gratitude. "Malam supported people when he had the opportunity, and now they are giving back," he noted.

A group of youths said to have benefited from the former Minister's influence at three federal agencies collectively raised about ₦17 million, while a women's group comprising beneficiaries contributed ₦6 million.

The Pantami Media Network raised ₦30,600 in its first batch, describing it as "a symbol of loyalty and genuine support." Hajiya Balki Pantami also joined the initiative with a ₦5,000 donation, among several others.

A coordinator disclosed that no funds from non-Nigerians or foreign sources were accepted. "While we appreciate the goodwill from abroad, financial grants from outside Nigeria are not permitted by law," he emphasised.

Political analysts say the scale, speed, and spontaneity of the fundraising effort reflect a shift in political engagement, with supporters independently mobilising resources to back a potential candidate.
