The Progressives Think Tank, a political and policy advocacy group promoting the achievements and legacy of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated President Tinubu, the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, and the Director-General of the Bureau of Public Procurement, Dr. Adebowale Adedokun, on Nigeria’s hard-fought and decisive victory in the international arbitration against the UK technology contractor, European Dynamics UK Ltd.

In a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Ms. Christiana Titus, and made available to newsmen in Abuja on Monday, the group commended President Tinubu for his visionary leadership and unwavering support for strengthened institutions that safeguard Nigeria’s economic and legal interests on the global stage.

Ms. Christiana averred that the Federal Government’s strategic backing of the arbitration proceedings affirmed that Nigeria will not be browbeaten or coerced into paying for services that did not meet the required contractual and technical standards.

“This success, which saw the arbitration tribunal dismiss all claims against Nigeria and save the nation over $6.2 million (approximately ₦9.3 billion) in potential liabilities, stands as a testament to effective leadership, legal acumen, and a patriotic commitment to protecting our national resources and public interest.

"We applaud Attorney-General Prince Fagbemi (SAN) for his assertive defence of Nigeria’s legal position, reflecting a robust justice system that is increasingly unafraid to confront complex international disputes. His leadership reinforces the crucial principle that contractual obligations must be honoured only when value is demonstrably delivered.

"Our special commendation goes to Dr. Adebowale Adedokun, whose stewardship of the Bureau of Public Procurement exemplifies professionalism and dedication. By inheriting and advancing this matter with strategic clarity and resolve, despite encountering attempts at an out-of-court settlement premeditated by some self-serving and unpatriotic agents and officials of government, Dr. Adedokun’s insistence on due legal process ensured that Nigeria’s stance was grounded in contractual fairness and technical accuracy, setting a new benchmark for public procurement governance. This kind of principled stance can only be exhibited by a selfless, honest, and highly patriotic public servant who has placed national interests above personal aggrandisement.

"This landmark arbitration victory, in all ramifications, sends a clear message to the international community that Nigeria is no longer a passive participant in global contract disputes, she is a country that will assert her rights, protect public funds, and defend her sovereignty with courage and competence."

The Progressives Think Tank reaffirmed its support for reforms that strengthen transparency, accountability, and excellence in public sector contracting, and encourages continued innovation and selflessness in protecting Nigeria’s interests at home and abroad.
