•Edochie praises Tinubu, pledges youth support

The City Boys Movement's empowerment programme for the five Southeast states ended in pandemonium yesterday at the Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu Square, Owerri, Imo State.

Attendees broke through security barriers and looted items meant for beneficiaries, including food, phones, laptops, sewing machines, and fertiliser.

The incident occurred when National Leader Seyi Tinubu was about to begin distribution, with some beneficiaries describing the event as "sad" and "disappointing".

"Ifeanyinwa Azubuike from Ebonyi State blamed the organisers for allowing beneficiaries from all five states to gather at once, saying security personnel failed to control the crowd.

Ukerian Amadi from Imo State noted similar chaos occurred at the same venue in December, urging the state government to improve crowd control measures.

A few moments before chaos erupted at the City Boys Movement's empowerment programme in Owerri, Nollywood actor Yul Edochie lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's performance.

Edochie stated that Tinubu has done well citing improved funding for states and reduced university strikes.

He pledged youth support for Tinubu's 2027 re-election bid. “I believe in democracy and I stand by the President because he has performed very well," Edochie said, urging other youths to join him.

He assured Tinubu of massive support from Igbo youths, saying, "Imo youths are going to stand solidly behind you in 2027... The Igbo are standing behind you.”

Edochie urged Tinubu to reciprocate with appointments and development projects in the East.
