Popular Yoruba actress and singer, Tolulope Labinjoh, has said that maintaining a firm boundary between her private life and professional career has been central to her ability to thrive across music, film, and the public space.
She told The Nation that deliberate discipline and self-awareness have helped her navigate the pressures that come with visibility in Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
“If you pay attention to my career, you’ll realise that I have mastered the art. I’ve created a very thick line between what is personal to me,” she said.
According to her, drawing that line has not only preserved her individuality but also enabled her to remain focused and consistent in her craft despite the demands of fame.
Labinjoh has, over the years, built a reputation for successfully combining acting with music, a growing trend among a new generation of multi-talented creatives redefining the contours of Nigeria’s entertainment landscape.
With over a decade in the industry, she has featured in several productions, including Dewunmi Iberu, Agbomojo, Simisola Otelemuye, Onome Aganga, Etekete, and Wendy, among others.
She has also expanded into film production, with credits such as Apeje, Ika Lokunri, and Tara, further showcasing her versatility.
Her movie, Ifemide, released on August 24, 2015, featured actors such as Jaiye Kuti, Tayo ‘Sotayo’ Sobola, Lateef Oladimeji, Niyi Johnson, Tayo Adeniyi (aka Shakira), and Azeezat Shorunmu, among others.
Her continued success in both music and film underscores her staying power and commitment to storytelling within Nigeria’s evolving creative industry.
