It was another glorious outing yesterday when Lagos State Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat and his entourage visited Ikorodu Division.

The first point of call was the home of the former deputy governor of Lagos State, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, where prominent indigenes, including Ashipa Kaoli Olusanya, All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman in Ikorodu, Olasunkanmi Tijani, among other dignitaries, were present.

Accompanying Hamzat were former senators Musiliu Obanikoro, Ganiyu Solomon, Chief Mutiu Are, Bode Oyedele and Special Adviser to the Governor on Works, Adekunle Olayinka.

Welcoming Hamzat, Prince Ogunleye said although their expectations as Ikorodu indigenes were not realised, ‘’as believers in God, His wish has been fulfilled in the choice of Hamzat. We support you and we pray that God will guide you in the discharge of the onerous duty of serving Lagos”.

At his home, Asiwaju of Igbagbo Kingdom, another Governance Advisory Council (GAC) member, Olorunfunmi Bashorun, also backed the endorsement of Hamzat.

Similarly, former Head of Service (HoS) in Lagos, Prince Adeseye Ogunlewe, attested to the quality and character of Hamzat.

The deputy governor assured his host communities that he will accede to their request for urban renewal drive, including provision of infrastructures and other amenities, if he becomes the governor.

Hamzat also met another GAC member, Chief Olumuyiwa Sosanya, at his Kosofe home.

The octogenarian said: ‘’Lagos is too important to fail. If Lagos fails, Nigeria will experience an untold difficulty. This is why we must elect a tested politician like Dr Hamzat to become the governor.”
