A non-governmental organisation, 1Inclusion4All, has provided widows in Ibadan with essential food items, medical check-ups, and health assessments as part of activities to mark the 2026 International Women’s Day.

The outreach, themed “Included, Valued, Empowered,” focused on delivering care, support, and empowerment to widows, a group often considered vulnerable and underserved.

Beyond physical health services, the programme featured a mental wellness session aimed at addressing emotional and psychological needs, offering participants a more comprehensive support system.

Speaking at the event, the convener of the organisation, Oluwaseun Ikusika, emphasised the need for sustained interventions targeting widows.

“International Women’s Day is not only a time to celebrate women’s achievements but also an opportunity to support those often overlooked. Widows face unique social and economic challenges, and through this outreach, we are reaffirming our commitment to ensuring they are included, valued, and empowered,” she said.

Ikusika added that the initiative forms part of a broader mission to drive inclusive development and create lasting social impact across communities.

Some beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the intervention, noting that beyond material assistance, the programme provided a platform for shared experiences, emotional support, and social connection.

The outreach underscores the organisation’s commitment to promoting social inclusion and gender equality in line with global development goals.
