The Chairman of Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area, Seyi Jakande, has inaugurated the Renewed Hope cash distribution of the Federal Government to beneficiaries at the Council’s Secretariat, Ilupeju.
Jakande, who expressed happiness, described the initiative as a “fantastic programme and a wonderful succuor that will mitigate the economic hardship people have been experiencing.”
He said: “I think it is very good, especially the mode and method which has been adopted to select the most vulnerable residents. And, of course, the fact that the money is coming in the form of an ATM card, which eliminates all other means where the beneficiary can suffer any kind of disadvantage.”
While urging the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the money, Jakande said it shows the responsiveness of the government to the effect of some of its policies on the masses.
“It is a government that is working, and the government has very good intention to deliver on all that has been promised, most especially the benefits that we should get from the removal of oil subsidy, which we believe that this is all tailored towards ensuring that people do not suffer any kind of hardship,” he said.

He added that the preloading of the cash into personalised ATMs was not only a clear departure from the past where cash was handed to beneficiaries, “But the ATM card ensures accuracy and accountability, that every beneficiary gets that amount that has been set out by the federal government.”
A beneficiary, Modupe Taiwo, appreciated the Federal Government for the initiative and appreciated Jakande for his efforts in making the council better for residents.
Another beneficiary, Madinat Ayangbayi, said, “I am very grateful. I will use the money to support my small scale business”
A beneficiary, Oluwatosin Oresanya, said: “I am happy for this cash palliative. May God continue to guide them. This money is going to help me in my beads business. I am heading to the market to get materials for it. “
