Traditional rulers in Jigawa State have pledged their support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Malam Umar Namadi in the 2027 general elections.

The pledge was made by the Emir of Gumel, Alhaji Ahmed Muhammad Sani, while receiving a New Year 2026 greeting card from President Tinubu at his palace in Gumel.

The message, which also conveyed goodwill and prayers for good health and strength ahead of the forthcoming Ramadan, highlighted the President’s appreciation of the role of traditional institutions in national development.

Speaking on behalf of the Gumel Emirate Council, the Emir said traditional and religious leaders in the emirate remain committed to supporting leaders who prioritise human and infrastructural development.

He noted that President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, alongside Governor Namadi’s 12-Point Agenda, has accelerated development across Jigawa State.

According to him, the initiatives have driven improvements in rural and urban transportation through major road and railway projects, as well as agricultural transformation through increased mechanisation and targeted interventions.

Alhaji Ahmed Muhammad Sani expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for the gesture and commended Governor Namadi for his inclusive leadership style and sustained engagement with traditional and religious leaders on key development issues in the state.

Presenting the greeting card on behalf of the President, the Jigawa State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Agenda, Alhaji Musa Shu’aibu Guri, praised the Emir for his exemplary leadership and consistent role in promoting unity and peace.

“Your decades of royal fatherhood and custodianship of traditional norms and culture remain a source of inspiration to younger generations in ethical leadership, moral discipline and commitment to service to humanity and the nation,” the President’s message read.

The President also appealed to the Emir to mobilise his subjects to offer fervent prayers for divine intervention against insecurity and other challenges facing the country.

Guri further noted that Jigawa State has been a major beneficiary of the Renewed Hope Agenda, disclosing that President Tinubu approved the establishment of three federal tertiary institutions within his first two years in office.

The institutions, he said, include a Federal College of Education (Special), a Federal College of Agriculture, and a Federal College of Education sited at Birnin Kudu, Kirikasamma and Birniwa Local Government Areas respectively.

He reaffirmed the commitment of both the Federal Government and the Jigawa State Government under President Tinubu and Governor Namadi to improving the welfare and living standards of citizens.

Guri assured that more developmental initiatives would be unveiled to further enhance socio-economic growth across the state and the country at large.
