President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Jos, the Plateau State capital, on a condolence visit following last Sunday’s attacks in the Angwan Rukuba district that left at least 27 people dead.

The President was received on arrival by the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Nentawe Yilwatda, Plateau State Governor, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, and other top government officials.

Tinubu had earlier condemned the Jos attacks as well as a separate incident in Kahir village, Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State, where wedding guests were reportedly killed and abducted.

In a statement issued by his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, the President described the attacks as “barbaric and cowardly,” vowing that the perpetrators would be brought to justice.

“Anyone who will sneak under the cover of the night and kill defenceless citizens as done in Jos and Kahir village is a heartless coward,” Tinubu said.

While condemning the violence, the President commended Governor Mutfwang for his efforts to contain the situation and directed security agencies to intensify operations to apprehend those responsible.

He also cautioned sections of the media against framing the attacks as religiously motivated, warning that such narratives could further inflame tensions.
