The ongoing rehabilitation of Kaduna Township Stadium has continued to generate optimism among enthusiasts and athletes over the revival of sports infrastructure in the state.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the renovation is being undertaken by the State Government under the supervision of the State Ministry of Sports Development.

The repairs include reconstruction of damaged terraces, rehabilitation of the playing pitch, modernisation of spectator stands, and upgrades of essential sporting infrastructure.

NAN reports that the project forms part of the state government’s commitment to repositioning sports as a tool for youth empowerment and social development.

Mr Elijah Bassey, a football fan, said the rehabilitation would restore the stadium’s lost glory and create a conducive environment for the sporting excellence Kaduna is known for.

“This project is aimed at reviving Kaduna’s sports culture, supporting local clubs like Ranchers Bees FC and Kaduna United FC, and giving our youths better opportunities to develop their talents,” he said.

Malam Ibrahim Musa, a long-time sports enthusiast in Kaduna, praised the pace and quality of the repairs.

Musa expressed confidence that the ongoing work would attract major local and national sporting events.

He said the project would also stimulate economic activities around the stadium through increased commercial opportunities.

According to him, the transformation reflects Gov. Uba Sani’s broader urban renewal agenda and commitment to infrastructure development across Kaduna State.

Enthusiasts believe that when completed, the stadium rehabilitation project will strengthen Kaduna’s position as a major hub for sports development in Northern Nigeria.
