The Katsina State Police Command has announced the arrest of 344 suspected criminals linked to kidnapping, banditry and other criminal activities across the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, disclosed this while briefing journalists on the command’s operational achievements for April 2026.
Aliyu said the command intensified its fight against kidnapping, banditry, cattle rustling and arms trafficking through intelligence-led operations, inter-agency collaboration and sustained patrols across identified flashpoints in the state.
According to him, the command adopted proactive security measures that yielded significant progress in restoring public safety.
“Our approach remains proactive, and the results reflect measurable progress in restoring public safety across the state,” he said.
He added that during the period under review, 344 suspects linked to various criminal activities were arrested by the command.
Aliyu further disclosed that 27 kidnapped victims were successfully rescued and reunited with their families after undergoing debriefing and medical examinations.
“The command successfully rescued 27 kidnapped victims. The victims have since been debriefed, medically examined and reunited with their families. One suspected kidnapper was neutralised during a tactical encounter,” he stated.
The police spokesperson explained that the command also carried out multiple targeted night raids and cordon-and-search operations in identified criminal hideouts across the state.
“To deny criminals freedom of action, the command conducted multiple targeted night raids and cordon-and-search operations in identified enclaves across the state. We maintained heightened intelligence-led patrols and stop-and-search operations along major highways in the state, including the Katsina-Zaria road,” he added.
Aliyu attributed the achievements recorded by the command to sustained collaboration with other security agencies through joint security operations, coordinated patrols and real-time intelligence sharing.
