The Executive Chairman of Egbe/Idimu LCDA, Prince Idris Balogun, has explained his decision to continue the council’s free bus ride scheme, introduced shortly after the COVID-19 pandemic to cushion the economic impact on residents.
The initiative, targeted primarily at residents of Alimosho, was designed to ease transportation costs amid mounting economic pressure and rising fares. According to the council boss, the scheme has provided meaningful relief to families grappling with daily commuting expenses.
Speaking on the motivation behind the programme, Balogun stressed the need for collective effort in advancing national development. He said all stakeholders must align with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda to achieve sustainable progress.

The initiative aligns with President Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda, which seeks to improve living standards and strengthen socio-economic support systems. By delivering direct relief at the community level, the programme reflects broader national efforts aimed at easing hardship and restoring confidence in governance.
Balogun has earned recognition for projects spanning healthcare, infrastructure, economic empowerment, and education. The free transportation scheme adds to his record of people-focused interventions.
An independent assessment of the bus operations featured testimonies from beneficiaries, many of whom described the burden of rising transport fares and the relief provided by the initiative.
Traders, students, artisans, and small business owners characterised the programme as timely and impactful, urging other leaders to replicate similar welfare-oriented policies to enhance citizens’ quality of life.
