The Corporate Stars League (CSL) has confirmed its return to Lagos for the 2026 season, announcing an expanded roster of participating firms and the formal introduction of a women’s category to the tournament program.

The competition, organized to commemorate International Workers’ Day, is scheduled to take place on Lagos Island from April 18 through May 9, 2026. The event follows the conclusion of the 2025 inaugural season, which saw Wema Bank’s Team ALAT FC secure the championship title.

Organizers confirmed that the 2026 edition has seen a surge in corporate interest, with a diverse lineup of blue-chip companies and multi-sectorial organizations signed on. Confirmed participants include Wema Bank, MTN, TotalEnergies, Meristem, Coronation, Red Bull, UBA, Vista Advisory, SohCahToa Holdings, Four Points by Sheraton, Park Inn by Radisson, Coscharis Group, alongside other organisations across banking, energy, hospitality, and financial services, with additional teams expected to be announced.

Tournament officials indicated that additional teams are currently in the final stages of registration and will be announced in the coming weeks.

In a shift from previous programming, the 2026 CSL will feature a dedicated women’s football showcase. The opening day will lead with a friendly match featuring female corporate professionals, a move the organizers state is intended to reflect the evolving gender dynamics of the modern Nigerian workforce.

Beyond the primary football tournament, the event will incorporate several track and field activities designed to encourage participation across different age groups and management levels. These include tug-of-war, sack races, and egg-and-spoon competitions.

Olumide Aturu, Founder and Tournament Director of the Corporate Stars League, stated that the platform aims to facilitate networking and team-building outside the traditional office environment.

“We are creating a lasting platform where Nigeria’s corporate community connects in a more human, engaging way,” Aturu said. “As workplace culture continues to evolve, CSL represents a new approach to how organisations interact, collaborate, and build stronger teams.”

The tournament is expected to draw thousands of spectators, including employees, C-suite executives, and sports enthusiasts, over its three-week duration.
