Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh Moshood, has received commendations from the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa and residents for his professionalism, integrity and dedication to public service.
The applauses were contained in letters seen by our Correspondent, which highlighted his disciplined, intelligence-driven and responsive approach to security management in the state.
Commending CP Jimoh on his management of last month's protest that grounded traffic along Awolowo Way, Ikeja, for hours, Obasa in the letter dated February 13, and signed by the Clerk of the Assembly, O.B. Onafeko, noted the prompt and professional response from the officers deployed for the exercise.
The Speaker, who spoke on behalf of lawmakers, expressed appreciation to the police for de-escalating the tension while protecting citizens’ rights to lawful expression.
According to the letter, lawmakers also described the approach adopted by the Lagos command in dispersing the protesters as “novel,” recommending it as a model for other commands.
A United Kingdom based consultant physician, Dr. Oludare Asekun, also commended CP Jimoh and the Lagos Police Command for recovering his stolen vehicle last December.
The vehicle was later traced to Edo State through coordinated police efforts.
Dr. Asekun said the investigation demonstrated professionalism and efficiency, noting that the swift response reinforced his confidence in the capacity of the Police.
In another letter, Nkechi Thelma Oseni, Programme Coordinator of the Christian Council of Nigeria in Lagos, said residents and visitors have observed greater professionalism, intelligence-led operations and increased police visibility across the state.
She noted that actions against cultism and organised criminal networks have helped restore a sense of safety in several communities.
Oseni also commended the command’s adoption of modern policing methods, including the use of surveillance cameras and improved communication systems, describing them as steps that align security operations in Lagos with global practices.

According to her, the commissioner’s emphasis on collaboration with other security agencies and engagement with communities has strengthened internal security coordination and improved public trust in the police.
The commendations come amid broader discussions on policing standards and accountability within the Nigeria Police Force.
Relatedly, a civil society advocacy group, National Patriots, has urged the Police Service Commission (PSC) to dismiss, or ensure that allegations circulating against CP Jimoh were subjected to objective review and supported by verifiable evidence.
In a letter to the commission, the group noted that the conduct of the Lagos police command during the protest near the Assembly complex had already received formal commendation from the state legislature.
The group described Jimoh as a disciplined and experienced officer whose leadership requires balancing public order, citizens’ rights to protest and the protection of critical government institutions.
