The 2026 NPA Lagos International Polo Tournament concluded with home teams asserting a near-total dominance over the Ribadu Road Polo Ground.

In a three-week display of high-octane athleticism and cultural heritage, Lagos-based outfits clinched the lion's share of the prestigious silverware. Leading the charge was Lagos STL, captained by Seyi Tinubu. Bolstered by top-tier foreign professionals, STL delivered a master class in strategy, ultimately hoisting the event’s crown jewel: the Majekodunmi Cup. Their trophy haul didn't stop there; the team also secured the Adedapo Ojora Cup, the Argentine Ambassador’s Cup, and the Owen Cup, before capping their run with the Independence Cup—the oldest polo title in Nigeria.

The Lagos Art Hotel team followed through with the Open Cup, while Lagos Shoreline/ A1 won the Oba of Lagos Cup, finished Majekodunmi and Independence Cups Runner-up, to put home based teams firmly on the driving seat of the three weeks old international polo fiesta.

Lagos domination continued to the second week with Lagos MRS carting home the Cancer Awareness Bowl, Lagos Volta defeated local rivals, Lagos Ibah 18- 13 on penalty to clinch the Heritage Cup. Hot favourites, Lagos MSD/ BabyBear completed the routes with Low Cup victory in the last game of the prestigious grand slam.

Meanwhile,  the Sani Dangote Cup and Silver Cup were the only two major prizes that escaped the ambitious home teams. Kano Alchemy shoved aside Lagos MSR 7=61/2 in a tense Silver Cup final, just as Port Harcourt YBL emerged champions in the highly revered Governor Cup series.

An impressive 27 teams from all the major polo centers in the country complete with skilful Nigerians and professionals from Europe, South Africa and Argentina,  rumbled for glittering polo laurels in the oldest and the most glamorous polo festival in Nigeria dating back to the early 1900s.

President Lagos Polo Club, Adeyemo Alakija is thrilled by the impressive runs of Lagos throughout the event, congratulating all the winners and runners-up teams, urging others that cannot make it to the  podium to go home and work harder ahead of the 2027 edition of the fiesta.

Lagos polo festival has a longstanding tradition of supporting impact-driven sporting events as part of its broader commitment to community development. The club’s long list of sponsors and partners reinforces its commitment to celebrating Africa's rich sporting heritage and promoting inclusivity through world-class events.

A staple in Nigeria's sporting and social calendar, the NPA Lagos International Polo Tournament is celebrated for its rich heritage, thrilling competitions, and vibrant atmosphere
