The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State has relocated its operations to its permanent secretariat in the Ajilosun area of Ado-Ekiti following an alleged eviction from its rented office.

The move came after the landlord reportedly sealed the party’s rented secretariat along Ikere-Ekiti Road in the Ajilosun axis without a court order, while party property was said to have remained inside the premises.

As a result, the party transferred its activities to its long-owned permanent secretariat within the same area, although parts of the facility are still undergoing finishing works.

Addressing journalists in Ado-Ekiti, the PDP State Chairman, Hon. Tunji Odeyemi, alleged that the landlord, whom he described as sympathetic to the All Progressives Congress (APC), locked the rented office while party property was still inside. He characterised the action as improper and regrettable, noting that the party had no option but to relocate.

Odeyemi expressed confidence that the PDP remains positioned to govern the state again and voiced optimism about the party’s prospects in the June 20, 2026, governorship election.

“For long, this place has belonged to the PDP. The structure was built through contributions from party faithful across Nigeria, yet we kept paying rent elsewhere. We realised there was no reason to continue when we already have our own building,” he said, adding that full mobilisation would commence once the party’s candidate is announced.

Also speaking, the Director-General of the Oluyede Campaign Team, Ogundipe Komolafe, described the relocation as significant and alleged efforts by the current administration to restrict opposition activities in the state.

Komolafe stated that the permanent secretariat would serve as a mobilisation hub for members across the 16 local government areas, noting that grassroots engagement had intensified ahead of the election. He urged party members to remain focused on the forthcoming governorship contest.
