LASU, World Bank visit LASEMA

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), got another boost during the week when  visitors from the World Bank and a team from the School of Transport and Logistics, Lagos State University, Lagos, visited the agency.

The visitors were highly impressed with what they saw at both the head office of the agency and its Cappa Base, Oshodi, and expressed their commitments to the agency.

While the World Bank said it would partner with LASEMA to strengthen its capacity in disaster management, the Lagos State University School of Transport and Logistics , expressed its willingness to assist in building the LASEMA Institute of Disaster Management.

Speaking on behalf of the visitors from LASU, the leader of the team, Dr Ogochukwu Ugboma, said they were impressed with what they saw at LASEMA.

“First of all, we met some very good things that are happening here. In emergency management, the most important thing is planning. We will work with the LASEMA on emergency response, and to see all the determinants, what the status quo is, and how to improve on it. We are the hub of capacity building. We are going to do collaborations, research, and partnerships in that aspect.”

She promised to assist the Institute of Disaster Management to make it a success.

Speaking on behalf of the team at the Eagle Base of LASEMA in Cappa, Oshodi, a highly impressed World Bank team leader, Francis Nkonka, said the visit was to look at areas of support and collaboration with the state government.
