Nigerian entrepreneur and political mobiliser, Suleiman Magaji, has given N20 million for re-election of Shittu Ibrahim Aremu, who represents Saki West Constituency in Oyo State House of Assembly.
Magaji told journalists yesterday that his support is based on Aremu’s track record in office and leadership approach rather than party alignment.
He said Aremu has built a reputation as a focused and result-oriented lawmaker whose presence in the House would benefit his constituency.
“My position on leadership has always been clear—it is about competence and delivery,” Magaji said. “I have followed Aremu’s work and I am convinced he should continue. That is why I back him.”
He noted Aremu’s performance is significant given the political dynamics in Oyo State, where PDP dominates.
Despite being in the minority, Magaji said Aremu is visible and effective, contributing to a stronger opposition.
“In a largely PDP-controlled environment, he has distinguished himself. His role has ensured opposition voices are relevant and active,” he said.
Magaji also alluded to challenges faced by the lawmaker, suggesting that political pressures and resistance from the ruling party have at times affected development efforts in his constituency.
“Even in the face of setbacks, including interruptions to projects, he has remained committed to his responsibilities and his people,” he added.
He further highlighted Aremu’s loyalty to his party, noting that the lawmaker reportedly declined several attempts to persuade him to switch allegiance.
“That consistency speaks to his character and principles,” Magaji remarked.
Aremu, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has been associated with legislative engagement, constituency outreach, and initiatives focused on infrastructure, education, and youth development across Saki West.

Magaji also commended his oversight role, describing it as diligent and impactful in promoting accountability among government agencies.
“Effective oversight is critical in governance, and he has shown commitment in ensuring that public resources are properly managed and utilised,” he said.
Beyond legislative duties, Aremu has facilitated a number of community-based projects aimed at improving living standards and creating opportunities for young people in his constituency.
Magaji, who serves as the North Central Zonal Youth Coordinator for the City Boy Movement—a group aligned with Bola Ahmed Tinubu—said his support for Aremu reflects a broader commitment to encouraging capable leaders across the country.
He emphasised the importance of continuity in governance, noting that returning experienced lawmakers to office helps sustain and complete ongoing initiatives.
“Continuity allows progress to build. It ensures that projects are completed and existing efforts are strengthened rather than abandoned,” he said.
He concluded by encouraging constituents in Saki West to consider Aremu’s record as they prepare for the next election cycle.
