Ikeja Dynamic Model Lions Club, in collaboration with Lagos Marvel Lions Club and Ikeja Platinum Lions Club, has held an Advocacy Walk for Green Environment in Gbagada, Lagos.

The exercise, which saw members of the clubs walk over a kilometre through the major streets in Gbagada, also had some Leo and Cub Lions of Lagos Marvel Club, as they enlightened residents on the environment and the need to maintain a clean and sane environment.

Ikeja Dynamic Model Lions Club president-elect, Lion Temitayo Osunremi, said the walk was in accordance with Lions Club International activity for April and in compliance with the directive of the International President.

“What we have done is to enlighten people about the environment and how to maintain and keep it clean. To this effect, hand fans with tips and pictorial diagrams on how to preserve the environment, such as water and flooding, food and waste facts among other general environment facts have been shared.”

Service Chairperson of Ikeja Dynamic Lions Club, Sherrif Adenekan said the activity aligns with the club’s project, starting from April 16 to 28, adding that it is being replicated in all Lions Clubs across Nigeria and the world.

The 10th President of the club, Oladele Adeniran Shomefun, said if complied with, the message of the day would help the people avoid environmental hazards such as flooding and disease outbreaks.

Also, most members agreed that the walk has given the club more visibility in the area and by implication more membership prospects.
